Firstly, Install Samsung Kies software from the CD provided with the handset or you candownload Kies from the link provided below:
http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as

After the completion of installation, open Kies and connect your phone using data cable.

As soon as you connect your phone to your PC, you will get a notification that a new firmware version is available and will request you to upgrade. Select the Update button to update it now.

Read all the instruction provided and click on Start upgrade. 

When the update process starts, it will start downloading firmware upgrade components. You also need to take a backup of your contacts and bookmarks when prompted.

Now the firmware download will start and it will take around 1 hour to complete the upgrade process. Don’t disconnect your phone while upgrade is under process.

When the update process will finish, a window will pop up saying Firmware upgrade complete 

After updating you can enjoy the new features of Android Gingerbread in your Samsung Galaxy Ace.

   1. Install ROM Manager.download from market
   2. Run it and select your device.

3. Install a custom ROM

1. On the device, go to Settings -> Applications and make sure Unknown sources and USB Debugging (under Development) are checked.
2. Download the Gingerbreak app via your PC and put it on the device's SD card, or use the browser on the device.
3. Install a file browser like Explorer since it appears the Streak doesn't come with one.
4. Navigate to the Gingerbreak .apk, install it, and run it to root your device. You're done!

install Froyo (Android 2.2) into Xperia X8

1. Create a new folder on your desktop and rename it as per your choice. Here let’s consider that folder’s name is “XYZ”
2. Now move the downloaded “Android Froyo Custom ROM” to the “XYZ” folder.
3. The Custom ROM is a RAR archive so you need to extract it using WinRAR.
4. For extracting the Custom Rom just Right Click on the file and then click on “Extract Here”
5. It will get extracted and “Android Froyo Custom ROM’s” folder will be created.
6. Now connect your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 Phone with your PC via USB cable.
7. Select “Open Folder to view files” in the Autoplay box and then click on OK.
8. Now Go To backup folder present inside the xrecovery folder (xrecovery – > backup)
9. Copy “Android Froyo Custom ROM’s” folder to backup folder from “XYZ” folder.
10. When it’s done, disconnect your phone from your PC.
11. Switch/Power off your phone and wait for five seconds.
12. Now Switch/Power on your phone again and as soon as the Sony Ericsson logo flashes on the screen start pressing the back key continuously.
13. This will take you to the Xrecovery menu.  (This happens only when you have installed xrecovery on your phone.)
14. Now Select “Backup and Restore” in the Xrecovery menu
15. In “Backup and Restore” click on Restore.
16. Now you will see two files
    1. The backup of your phone
    2. “Android Froyo Custom ROM” file
17. Select the “Android Froyo Custom ROM” file .
18. It will Ask “Are You Sure”. Select “Yes – Restore”
19. Now it will start installing “Android Froyo” on your XPERIA X8. Be patient, it will take some amount of time.
20. After five or six minutes installation gets completed and a menu comes in front of you. Select “Reboot” From That Menu and Press Enter.
21. Your Phone will reboot and you will see the change.  That’s it! Android Froyo get’s installed on your phone. Enjoy.

So in this way you can install Android v2.2 (Froyo) on your XPERIA X8 phone. By this method you can install any custom ROM on your X8.

Enable USB Debugging on your Galaxy SL I9003 by going to “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”.

Step 3:
Connect your Galaxy SL I9003 to your computer by using a USB Data cable

Step 4:
Copy and paste downloaded Ice Cream Sandwich ZIP file into your SD card of your Galaxy SL I9003.

Step 5:
Now download and install ROM Manager from Android Market

Step 6:
Then open ROM Manager from your app drawer and choose “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.”

Step 7:
Turn off you Galaxy SL I9003 and boot it into recovery modeby pressing and holding “Volume Down + Ok” buttons and simultaneously pressing “Power” button together for few seconds

Step 8:
In recovery mode, choose “install zip from SD card.”  And nagvigate through SD Card by using “Volume Up/Down” keys and press “Power” button as “OK”.

Step 9:
Select “choose zip from SD Card” and choose the Android 4.0 ICS zip file from SD card.

Step 10:
Now Android 4.0 ICS will start installing. You have to wait for 5 – 10 minutes for installing process to finish

Step 11:
Now reboot your Samsung Galaxy SL I9003.

You have done. Now enjoy Android 4.0 ICS on your Galaxy SL I9003.
